Caribbean Invasive Species Project & CABI Invasive Species Compendium
The main goal of this project is to identify, classify, and analyze alien plant species behaving as invaders on islands across the Caribbean region. This project is a collaboration with the USDA and CABI Invasive Species Compendium (ISC).
The ISC is an open access, online database supported by CABI. The main goal of the ISC is to provide science-based information to support decision-making in invasive species management worldwide. Additionally, the information included in the ISC is extremely useful to: (1) create conservation strategies, (2) support scientific research, (3) provide data to assist in undertaking risk assessments, and (4) prepare lecture notes, reports, presentations, and public information resources.
For each target species, we compile a datasheet comprising detailed information on taxonomy, distribution, habitat preferences, invasiveness, history of introduction, and impacts to the economy (agriculture, fisheries, etc.), the environment (habitat and threatened species), and animal or human health. Additionally, each datasheet includes plant uses, pathways and vectors, and management recommendations. Once completed and edited, each datasheet is incorporated in the Invasive Species Compendium (www.cabi.org/isc).
I have been collaborating with this project since 2012 and until now I have authored >400 datasheets for invasive plants impacting Caribbean islands. In this link --> cabi.org/isc you can access all of my datasheets.
