Research experiences for undergraduate students. Mona Island, Puerto Rico
During my PhD studies and subsequent postdoct at the University of Puerto Rico, I had the great opportunity of mentoring and share research experiences with more than 85 undergraduate students from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras and Humacao. Many of these undergraduate students were volunteers in the Harrisia Project at Mona Island and others were member of the AKKA-SEEDS Puerto Rico Chapter.

Environmental Education at Public Elementary Schools, Peninsula de Osa, Costa Rica
I strongly believe that environmental education at elementary school level is an essential tool to prepare a population that is aware and concern about the use and conservation of natural resources. For this reason, before starting the graduate school, I spent two years working as environmental educator in my home country. During these years, I had the opportunity to share my knowledge with amazing kids and provide them with the literacy that they will need to make well-informed decisions later in life in regard to environmental issues.
